Hypocrite!

Journal Entry: Fri May 2, 2008, 4:39 PM
Hahaha, well what do you know! It has been more than two months since my last entry, and in my last entry I said that was ridiculous! It has been a while since I have written anything for those that are watching me or those that are passing by, but I ASSURE you I am still active!

On the normal day, I come here about once or twice a day. That is considerable given the lack of journal entries and comments I have been making. Usually, I take a look at my inbox for messages and deviations and say to myself: Later. I do not feel like reading that right now: it is too much to read!

If you think I have long journal entries, you should see some of the other ones on here! They are long, well composed, logical and have many components all tied into one neatly packaged array of paragraphs that could shoot me down any day! They are a really good read to tell the truth, but I am currently lazy as can be. I have been immobilized in my chair out of sheer lack of will and have been watching Naruto like crazy for the past week. (I know, shame on me).

I am not one to be a convert, but I had watched an episode about a year ago because a friend recommended it to me - even though he had only watch one episode as well. When someone wants to convert me, I usually am extraordinarily stubborn and they may get the impression that I am telling them where to stuff it, which is not true. I like to evaluate the facts that are presented to me in a completely logical and unbiased manner so that I can make a judgment that I will not regret for my self-induced lack of comprehension. That being said, I took a look at Naruto and wondered why in the heck it was so popular and decided on this idea: If so many people are watching this, there is going to have to be a reason. I can tell the demographics of this crowd are young teenagers, but there also appear to be other aspects that the creator of this series has cleverly designed. If that is the case, I should give him credit. After all, I may be a very different breed of human, but I still watched Dragonball Z because of sheer raw manliness and lack of attention to detail. In other words, I can talk all I want, but I still fell for it at a young age. So yes, I watched it, and have not stopped.

It is strange how something that is intended for an audience so young can teach one so many things. Perhaps I look to deeply into what the meaning of this plethora of scribbled lines, J-Pop punk and coloured wonderland means, but nevertheless I still have found many a useful lesson. Perhaps I came across it very late, but who cares - it is still there for me to learn.

Some say that when one gets older, they are less capable of learning. The old saying "You can't teach an old dog new tricks comes to mind. I think that they are all sorrily mistaken when it comes to me. The world can say whatever they would like, but they do not know what I can do. However, I digress somewhat. What the basis in my reasoning for mentioning all of this Naruto stuff is how someone can still enjoy something that is outside of there demographic, still learn from it, and still enjoy someone else's work. Whether the idea of falling to a marketing tactic is also in the mix as well is up to the eye of the beholder, but as for me, well, the Internet prevails. Does that make me cheap? Possibly. Do I care? Not really. Am I being a hypocrite? Somewhat; but I am the one using Linux here, unlike most! That is what I call justifying a hypocrite. Funny, no?

Anyhow, what I was really here to do was not rant and rave about how Naruto has changed my life... which it has not. (Sorry for you hopefuls out there, I am "made of sterner stuff" *GO OPTIMUS* than that. What I am really here to do it to give you an update on that little trinket of a work that I told you that I was going to complete. Do not doubt me! I keep my word!

As of today, and just before typing out all of this (my longest journal entry, no doubt), I put in about 2 to 2.5 hours of work into my drawing. Also, to keep you all on your toes, I went from one idea, to a completely different idea, to a slightly different idea, and now it went into to completely different drawings!! O_O Sorry for my terribly erratic behaviour and my lack of consistency - Devil's work I say!! :evillaugh:

Anyhow, it is still coming, but there is a lot more that needs to be put in. I have not even started to colour yet, just to put things into perspective. Painfully slow? Yes. Fun? Very yes. Shall we move on? Yes, let's shall.

I will give you all another update soon... no lies. I do not like disrespecting my word. I have probably about 30 minutes to rework some lineart and then I can begin the painting. I am not sure if I am going to keep it with lines, without, realistic, semi-realistic or part manga/anime type. I am leaning toward a semi realistic and part anime because my other work is going to be much more realistic than this one. Anyhow, enough of this. Time to make my exit.

Haha, now I feel embarrassed! XD

I would think that if I were someone that would be buying tatoos/prints, I would look for a high quality rendering/revision of that. That is not an insult to your work either. It is just that, for prints, the PPI should be about 300, which means that you must have a high resolution. If not, the result of the print may be somewhat poor in comparison to how it looks on a computer screen. Additionally, a slight amount of refining to the curves of the drawing would, I think, add a lot of punch to this piece.

Again, this is not to downplay or criticize your work, this is strictly constructive critique. The fact that you actually have a print request is amazing in itself, so I cannot critique any more than I already have!! Nice work!

K has an amazing talent. Proof of that is his genre; I am not a furry lover, yet he writes so well, I get caught up in the story nonetheless. Now THAT'S talent. He's been loyal to me; I can be no less for him when the chips are down.
